Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Spaghetti
- Boil the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, according to the package instructions (usually 8-10 minutes). Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water before draining.
- Drain and Set Aside: Drain the cooked spaghetti, toss with a drizzle of sesame oil to prevent sticking, and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Sauce
- Combine Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sugar. Set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Ground Beef Mixture
- Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Cook the Aromatics: Add the garlic, ginger, and onion. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, or until fragrant and softened.
- Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it into crumbles with a wooden spoon, until fully cooked and browned.
- Add Vegetables: Stir in the carrot and peas. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
Step 4: Combine Everything
- Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the ground beef mixture. Stir well to coat the beef and vegetables evenly.
- Incorporate the Spaghetti: Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet. Toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce. Add reserved pasta water, a little at a time, if the mixture seems dry.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
- Plate the Pasta: Divide the spaghetti among serving plates or bowls.
- Garnish: Sprinkle with scallions, toasted sesame seeds, and sriracha or chili flakes for extra flavor.
- Serve Immediately: Enjoy this dish warm as a satisfying main course.
