  • Author: Amelia
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Spaghetti

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1 tsp salt (for boiling water)

For the Sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp sugar

For the Ground Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned or grated
  • ½ cup frozen peas
  • 2 tbsp chopped scallions (plus more for garnish)

For Garnish (Optional)

  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Additional scallions
  • Sriracha or chili flakes for heat

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Spaghetti

  1. Boil the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, according to the package instructions (usually 8-10 minutes). Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water before draining.
  2. Drain and Set Aside: Drain the cooked spaghetti, toss with a drizzle of sesame oil to prevent sticking, and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Sauce

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sugar. Set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Ground Beef Mixture

  1. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the Aromatics: Add the garlic, ginger, and onion. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, or until fragrant and softened.
  3. Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it into crumbles with a wooden spoon, until fully cooked and browned.
  4. Add Vegetables: Stir in the carrot and peas. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.

Step 4: Combine Everything

  1. Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the ground beef mixture. Stir well to coat the beef and vegetables evenly.
  2. Incorporate the Spaghetti: Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet. Toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce. Add reserved pasta water, a little at a time, if the mixture seems dry.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

  1. Plate the Pasta: Divide the spaghetti among serving plates or bowls.
  2. Garnish: Sprinkle with scallions, toasted sesame seeds, and sriracha or chili flakes for extra flavor.
  3. Serve Immediately: Enjoy this dish warm as a satisfying main course.
