Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Sloppy Joe Filling
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, and chili powder (if using). Stir well to combine.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer the mixture over low heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavorful.
Step 2: Make the Garlic Butter
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
Step 3: Assemble the Garlic Bread
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread the garlic butter evenly over the inside halves of the sandwich buns or the top side of each bread slice.
- Place the buns or bread on a baking sheet, buttered side up. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes until lightly golden and fragrant.
Step 4: Build the Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes
- Spoon the Sloppy Joe filling generously onto the bottom half of each bun or bread slice.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the filling.
- Return the assembled sandwiches to the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
- Remove the sandwiches from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley and red pepper flakes if desired.
