Ingredients
For the Pasta and Beef Mixture:
- 12 oz (340g) bowtie (farfalle) pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
For the Creamy Sauce:
- 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- ½ teaspoon balsamic vinegar (for depth of flavor)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
For Garnishing:
- Extra Parmesan cheese
- Chopped fresh basil or parsley
- Red pepper flakes (for heat)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the bowtie pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente (firm to the bite). Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
Step 2: Brown the Beef
In a large skillet or deep pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes, until softened and slightly golden. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook for 6-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and fully cooked. Season with salt, black pepper, oregano, paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to coat the beef in the seasonings.
Step 3: Build the Sauce
Once the beef is browned, pour in the tomato sauce and beef broth. Stir in balsamic vinegar and Italian seasoning. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Step 4: Add the Creamy Elements
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and cream cheese (if using). Stir until the cheese is melted and fully incorporated into the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen it up.
Step 5: Combine Everything
Add the cooked bowtie pasta directly into the skillet with the creamy beef sauce. Toss well to coat every piece of pasta in the luscious sauce. Stir in chopped parsley for a burst of freshness.
Step 6: Serve and Garnish
Divide the pasta among serving plates and garnish with extra Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, and red pepper flakes for an added kick. Serve immediately and enjoy the rich, creamy, and flavorful goodness of this dish!
