Delicious Garlic Beef Pasta

  • Author: Amelia
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Pasta: 12 oz (spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne)
  • Beef: 1 lb sirloin steak or ribeye, thinly sliced
  • Garlic: 6 cloves, minced
  • Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Butter: 2 tablespoons
  • Beef Broth: ½ cup
  • Heavy Cream (optional): ¼ cup for a creamier sauce
  • Parmesan Cheese: ½ cup, grated
  • Red Pepper Flakes: ½ teaspoon (optional, for spice)
  • Salt & Black Pepper: To taste
  • Fresh Parsley: For garnish
  • Mushrooms or Bell Peppers: 1 cup sliced (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set it aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Beef

While the pasta is cooking, slice the beef into thin strips, about ¼ inch thick. Season with salt and black pepper.

Step 3: Sear the Beef

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes per side until browned but still tender. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Step 4: Sauté the Garlic

Reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic!

Step 5: Build the Sauce

Pour in the beef broth, stirring to deglaze the pan and lift any flavorful bits from the bottom. If you want a creamier sauce, stir in ¼ cup heavy cream at this stage. Let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes to blend the flavors.

Step 6: Combine Everything

Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Add the drained pasta, tossing everything together to ensure an even coating. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water.

Step 7: Finish with Cheese and Garnish

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes (if using). Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy!
