Garlic Butter Chicken Tenders

  • Author: Amelia
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken

  • 1.5 lbs chicken tenders (about 16 pieces)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth (or white wine for added flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Optional Garnishes and Sides

  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Serve with rice, pasta, mashed potatoes, or a green salad

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

  1. Begin by patting the chicken tenders dry with paper towels. This step is crucial to achieving a golden, crispy exterior when searing the chicken.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken tenders, making sure they are well-coated on all sides.

Step 2: Sear the Chicken

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot and shimmering, add the seasoned chicken tenders in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the pan, as this can cause the chicken to steam rather than sear.
  2. Cook the chicken for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.

Step 3: Make the Garlic Butter Sauce

  1. Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as this can make the sauce bitter.
  2. Stir in the chicken broth (or white wine) and red pepper flakes, scraping the bottom of the skillet to deglaze and release the browned bits. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  3. Add the lemon juice and fresh parsley, stirring to combine.

Step 4: Combine and Serve

  1. Return the cooked chicken tenders to the skillet, tossing them in the garlic butter sauce to coat. Let the chicken warm through for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Serve the Garlic Butter Chicken Tenders hot, garnished with additional parsley and lemon wedges. Pair with your favorite sides for a complete meal.
