Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large croissants (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a bit of heat)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Optional garnish: fresh thyme or rosemary, coarse sea salt, or crushed pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Prepare the Glaze: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, whole-grain mustard, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt until smooth. Slowly drizzle in the melted butter, whisking continuously until the glaze is fully combined.
- Slice and Glaze the Croissants: Carefully slice each croissant in half horizontally, but do not cut all the way through—leave them hinged. Brush the inside of each croissant generously with the maple-mustard glaze, ensuring even coverage.
- Bake the Croissants: Arrange the glazed croissants on the prepared baking sheet. Using a pastry brush, apply an additional layer of glaze over the tops of the croissants. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and slightly crisp on the outside.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the croissants from the oven and immediately brush with any remaining glaze for an extra glossy finish. Garnish with fresh thyme, coarse sea salt, or crushed pecans if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
