Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Loose Meat Filling
- Cook the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it into small crumbles with a wooden spoon or spatula. Stir occasionally to ensure even browning.
- Add Onions: Once the beef starts to brown, add the diced onions to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the onions become translucent.
- Season the Beef: Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the beef with the seasonings.
- Deglaze the Pan: Add the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth (or water) to the skillet. Stir to combine, scraping the bottom of the pan to release any browned bits for extra flavor.
- Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. The liquid should reduce, leaving the beef moist but not saucy.
Step 2: Toast the Buns (Optional)
- Toast for Texture: While the beef is simmering, lightly toast the hamburger buns on a skillet or in a toaster oven for extra texture and flavor.
Step 3: Assemble the Sandwiches
- Pile on the Meat: Spoon a generous portion of the loose meat mixture onto the bottom half of each bun.
- Add Toppings: Layer with your preferred toppings, such as dill pickles, mustard, chopped onions, or a slice of cheese.
- Serve Immediately: Place the top bun over the filling and serve the sandwiches warm with your favorite sides.
