Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Crust
- In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Mix until the texture resembles wet sand.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan, spreading it evenly with the back of a spoon or a measuring cup.
- Place the crust in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the filling.
Step 2: Make the Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Add the orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract, and orange extract (if using). Mix until fully combined.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture, being careful not to deflate the whipped peaks.
- If desired, add gel food coloring to achieve a vibrant orange color, and mix until evenly distributed.
Step 3: Assemble the Cheesecake
- Pour the filling over the chilled crust, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Smooth the top for a clean finish.
- Cover the cheesecake with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or overnight for the best texture and flavor.
Step 4: Add the Topping
- Just before serving, pipe or spread whipped cream over the top of the cheesecake.
