Sticky Pigs in Blankets

  • Author: Amelia
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 24 sticky pigs in blankets 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pigs in Blankets:

  • 12 slices of halal-certified beef bacon (halved lengthwise)
  • 24 halal cocktail sausages (such as chicken or beef)
  • Toothpicks (optional, for securing)

For the Sticky Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (halal-certified)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for added smokiness)

Optional Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup. If you prefer crispier bacon, place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet.

Step 2: Wrap the Sausages

  1. Take each cocktail sausage and wrap it snugly with half a slice of beef bacon. Place the wrapped sausages seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Use toothpicks to secure the bacon if needed.

Step 3: Make the Sticky Glaze

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Adjust the sweetness or spice level to your liking.

Step 4: Coat the Pigs in Blankets

  1. Use a pastry brush to generously coat each bacon-wrapped sausage with the sticky glaze. Reserve some of the glaze for basting during cooking.

Step 5: Bake

  1. Bake the pigs in blankets in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove them from the oven, brush with more glaze, and return to bake for another 10 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

  1. Transfer the sticky pigs in blankets to a serving platter. Sprinkle with chopped parsley or sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
