For the Cookies
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg

- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing to maintain a soft texture.
Step 3: Add Chocolate Chips
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Step 4: Chill the Dough
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Chilling helps prevent the cookies from spreading too much during baking.
Step 5: Preheat and Portion
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to portion the dough into 1.5-inch balls. Place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheets.
Step 6: Bake
- Bake the cookies for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers will look slightly underbaked but will firm up as they cool.
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
