  • Author: Amelia
  • Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

For the Garlic Bread:

  • 1 large French bread loaf, halved lengthwise
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt

For the Cheesesteak Filling:

  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak (or deli-style roast beef for a shortcut)
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Cheese Topping:

  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese (or a combination of provolone and mozzarella)

Optional Garnishes:

  • Red pepper flakes
  • Fresh parsley or chives

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Garlic Bread

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  3. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the French bread.
  4. Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, buttered side up. Bake for 5-7 minutes until lightly toasted. Remove from the oven and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Cheesesteak Filling

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the thinly sliced steak and cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the steak and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté the onions and bell peppers for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  4. Return the cooked steak to the skillet and stir in the Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

Step 3: Assemble the French Garlic Philly Cheesesteak Bread

  1. Evenly distribute the cheesesteak filling over the toasted garlic bread halves.
  2. Sprinkle shredded provolone cheese generously over the top.
  3. Return the assembled bread to the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

  1. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley, chives, or red pepper flakes for a pop of color and flavor.
  3. Slice into portions and serve immediately.
